This opportunity is available to exceptional high school juniors & seniors or college students (16+) looking to develop their hands-on experience with community-based arts education. Counselors are an integral part of the Artistree summer staff and will support Artistree’s mission to deliver meaningful arts experiences to children in the Upper Valley. This is a seasonal, part-time position at Artistree. Summer camps run daily from June 20-August 24, 2023.
What we are looking for in a candidate:
We are looking for counselors who are positive and passionate about working with children and are self-reflective in their interactions with others! Ideal candidates will have some prior experience working with children in a camp or childcare environment and be a positive team member and role model for younger children. A love of the creative arts (visual, music, theatre etc.) is a big plus!
Compensation:
This is a paid position, $14-$16/hour based on experience. Hours will be determined based on an individual's availability.
General responsibilities may include:
-Help set up for the daily activities and check in campers.
-Assist the camp lead educator in a meaningful and hands-on way during the camp day.
-Potentially lead afternoon art activities from provided curriculum and materials.
-Lead afternoon play activities for campers.
-Monitor lunchtime on the playground for full-day campers.
-Assist with classroom clean up.
-Communicate with caregivers as needed.
-Be positive and interactive with campers, providing support and encouragement as needed
-Be fun, friendly and positive!! Help the kids have a wonderful summer!
-Assist with other duties as needed, such as Artsitree special events.
Experience & Skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Comfortable interacting with children and adults.
•Positive attitude, good problem solver.
• Experience working with children or a desire to work with children is an asset (not required).
•Interest and experience with visual arts, ceramics, theatre etc. is a plus!
Things to know:
- You will need to provide your own reliable transportation to and from Artistree. We are located at 2095 Pomfret Road, South Pomfret, Vermont.

Counselors should plan to be available for 1-2 training sessions prior to the start of camp (dates TBD for late May or early June).

Scheduling can be flexible. Conversation about specific summer availability will happen during an interview. Preference will be given to applicants who have a minimum of 4 weeks of availability for the summer.

Camp counselors will be responsible for independently obtaining a valid CPR certification by the start of camps.

Artistree Covid policies are in following State of Vermont guidelines. Proof of vaccination for camp counselors is required.

Being a camp counselor is a great way to gain work experience and build your resume. We consider the relationships we build with our camp counselors and counselors-in-training to be extremely important. Upon a successful summer experience, we are happy to write letters of recommendation and/or serve as a reference for you.

The Industrial Arts/Visual Arts Instructor role is an integral part of the Artistree staff and will support Artistree’s mission to deliver meaningful arts experiences to children in the Upper Valley. This role will primarily teach and lead programs for youth and adult audiences in the industrial and visual arts areas.
This is a part-time, benefits-eligible, 30-hour position at Artistree. The Industrial Arts/Visual Arts Instructor may be asked to work additional hours as their schedule permits.
What we are looking for in a candidate:
We are looking for a candidate who has teaching experience or equivalent experience in the industrial and visual arts (such as wood working, welding, 3-D sculpture and other artistic mediums and techniques). The ideal candidate will be good with their hands and a problem-solver. We are seeking someone who is sociable and easy for students of all ages to work with and talk to. This individual should be capable of motivating and inspiring students.
General responsibilities include:

Teaches students basic techniques and assists in development of manipulative skills in arts courses. Prepares informal lesson plans for courses and materials prep.

Has experience or comfort teaching classes such as woodworking, welding, carpentry, 3-D or outdoor sculpture, as well as more traditional art classes including painting, drawing and mixed media.

Helps to maintain art materials inventory.
-
Leads adult classes, after school programs for children ages 5-12, summer and holiday camps and workshops.

Helps out with other projects or initiatives as part of the Artistree team.
Experience & Skills

Teaching experience with adults and children or equivalent experience.

College graduates are preferable.

Ability to take initiative, work independently as well as collaboratively.

Comfortable interacting with children and adults.

Positive attitude, good problem solver.

Expertise in industrial arts or an area of industrial arts.
Schedule: 30 hours per week (75% of full-time schedule)

This opportunity is available to exceptional arts educators looking to develop engaging summer programming and hands-on experiences for youth in community-based arts education.
The Summer Camp Educator role is an integral part of the Artistree’s summer staff and will support Artistree’s mission to deliver meaningful arts experiences to children in the Upper Valley. This role will provide summer camp programming and instruction for youth.
What we are looking for in a candidate:
We are looking for Summer Camp Educators who are passionate about teaching arts-based curriculum (visual arts, music, dance, etc.) and working with students during the summer months. Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with children in a school, camp or childcare environment. A love of the creative arts (visual, music, theater etc.) is essential for this role.
General responsibilities may include:
Camp Programming:
-Designing creative and fun camp experiences for youth ages 3-4, 5-7 or 8-12.
-Collaboratively creating program descriptions and scheduling camps with Artistree Staff.
-Leading a minimum of four weeks of half-day camps, either morning or afternoon (they do not need to be consecutive weeks).
-Leading fun, innovative and creative camps.
-Being available to check in with caregivers after camp, as needed.
-Model positive teaching and provide direction for teenage camp counselors, who will assist in your camps.
-Communicate any needs or concerns with the Camp Director in a timely fashion.
Experience & Skills
Professional educators or similar experience desired.
Must hold a valid CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
Ability to take initiative, work independently as well as collaboratively.
Comfortable and experienced teaching children.
Positive attitude, good problem solver.
Interest and experience with visual arts, ceramics, theater etc.
Compensation:
This is a part-time, seasonal position at Artistree. Preference will be given to educators who are able to instruct a minimum of four to six weeks of half-day camps, either mornings (9 am-12 pm) or afternoons (1-4 pm). Up to 10 weeks of camp instruction is possible.
The dates/times of your camps will be created together with the Associate Director of Programming in early 2023.
Hourly teaching rates are between $20.00-$22.50 commensurate with experience.
Timeline:
Please apply by February 1, 2023. Camp descriptions and schedules will be made in February/March.
Summer camps will run for 10 weeks (June 19-August 25). A minimum of four-six camp weeks would be an ideal commitment. Please feel free to email with any questions.
