This position is an integral part of the Artistree summer staff and will support Artistree’s mission to deliver meaningful arts experiences to children in the Upper Valley. The Summer Camp Leader role is a leadership position that is crucial to the success of our camp program!
This is a seasonal position at Artistree. Summer camps run daily from June 20-August 23, 2024, 8:30am-4:30 pm. The Summer Camp Leader job dates would be June 17-August 30th, from 8:00am-5:00 pm.
What we are looking for in a candidate:
We are looking for a professional who is positive and passionate about working with children, teens and is self-reflective in their interactions with others! Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with children and teens in a camp or childcare environment and be a positive team member and role model for younger staff and campers. A love of the creative arts (visual, music, theatre etc.) is a big plus!
Compensation:
This is a paid position, $22/hour. Hours for this position are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.
General responsibilities may include:

Oversee staff of summer camp counselors and CATs. This can include mentorship, helping with training staff, scheduling and providing a positive and supportive leadership presence.

Manage daily camp check in/check out processes.

Restock the counselor backpacks.
-
Lead a Monday morning counselor meeting and assign roles for the week.
-
Running the lunch hour for counselors and campers.
-
Instruct Summer Soak camps or substitute as a counselor in camps as needed.

Checking in on counselors/floating.
-
Manage and coordinate counselor schedule changes
-
Collect weekly counselor time sheets and following up with anyone who need help to fill their out.

End of the day doing a sweep of the playground and classrooms to make sure everything is clean, closing windows, picking up trash.

Helping with behavioral needs in classrooms as needed.
-
Be the main popsicle person: maintain inventory and help distribute on Fridays.
-
Helping out during times an instructor requests extra hands (ex: going to the creek).
-
Bouncy House set up and coordination.
-
Plan and manage two summer special counselor events.

Checking the first aid kits in each classroom space on Fridays.

Other duties as needed.
Experience & Skills
Three years + experience working in an educational setting (or equivalent) preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Comfortable interacting with children, teens and adults. Experience with teens is a plus.
•Positive attitude, good problem solver.
•Interest and experience with visual arts, ceramics, theatre etc. is a plus!

You will need to provide your own reliable transportation to and from Artistree. We are located at 2095 Pomfret Road, South Pomfret, Vermont.

Summer Camp Leader will be required to hold a valid CPR/First Aid certification prior to the position start date.

This opportunity is available to exceptional high school juniors, seniors or college students (age 16+) looking to develop their hands-on experience with community-based arts education.
Counselors are an integral part of the Artistree summer staff and will support Artistree’s mission to deliver meaningful arts experiences to children in the Upper Valley.
This is a seasonal, hourly position at Artistree. Summer camps run daily from June 20-August 23 2024. In person, training dates are mandatory and scheduled for June 20 and 21.
What we are looking for in a candidate:
We are looking for counselors who are energetic and passionate about working with children and are self-reflective in their interactions with others! Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with children in a camp or childcare environment and be a positive team member and role model for younger children. A love of the creative arts (visual, music, theatre, etc.) is a big plus!
Compensation:
This is a seasonal hourly position at the rate of $16.00/hour. Hours will be determined based on an individual's availability and camp needs. Counselors are also eligible to receive a 25% discount on Artistree programs and classes for the school year following their camp season.
General responsibilities may include:
-Help set up for the daily activities and check in campers.
-Assist the camp instructor in a meaningful and hands-on way during the camp day.
-Lead play activities for campers during check in/out, recess times and lunchtime.
-Assist with classroom clean up.
-Communicate with Summer Camp Leader and caregivers as needed.
-Be positive and interactive with campers, providing support and encouragement as needed
-Be fun, friendly and positive!! Help the kids have a wonderful summer!
-Assist with other duties as needed, such as Artistree special events.
Experience & Skills

• Experience working with children or a desire to work with children is an asset (not required).
• Interest and experience with visual arts, ceramics, theatre etc. is a plus!

Summer camp counselor applicants must be 16 years old or older by June 24, 2024.

You will need to provide your own reliable transportation to and from Artistree. We are located at 2095 Pomfret Road, South Pomfret, Vermont.

Counselors must be available for 1-2 training sessions prior to the start of camp (dates will be June 20 & 21).

Preference will be given to applicants who have a minimum of 6 weeks of availability for the summer.

Camp counselors will be responsible for independently obtaining a valid CPR certification by the start of camps.

Being a camp counselor is a great way to gain work experience and build your resume. We consider the relationships we build with our camp counselors and counselors-in-training to be extremely important. Upon a successful summer experience, we are happy to write letters of recommendation and/or serve as a reference for you.

This is a seasonal, hourly position at Artistree. Theatre camps run Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm beginning June 20th. Counselors will need to be available on the show weekends. ACT Jr. will be producing three shows this summer:

Under the Sea, a musical revue (June 20-June 29; performances June 28-29)

Shakespeare’s The Tempest (July 8-July 21; performances July 19-20)
-
Finding Nemo Jr. (July 29-August 18; performances August 15-17)
***PLEASE NOTE: All theatre camps include a rain date on the following Sunday in the event of a canceled show due to inclement weather***
What we are looking for in a candidate:

Ideal candidates will have an interest and experience in the theatre arts, some prior experience working with children in a camp or childcare environment, and be a positive team member and role model for younger children.
Compensation:
This is a paid position, $16/hour. Hours will be in alignment with the camp and show times and will be clearly defined during the application process.
General responsibilities may include:
-Help set up for the daily activities and check in campers.
-Assist ACT Jr. Director in a meaningful and hands-on way during the camp day.
-Assist production team backstage during rehearsals and performances.
-Reporting to Theatre Associate Director for daily/weekly check ins as necessary.
-Monitor outdoor snack and lunchtime.
-Assist with the end of the day clean up.
-Communicate with caregivers in a professional manner (if asked by the production team)
-Be positive and interactive with campers, providing support and encouragement
-Be fun, friendly and positive!! Help the kids have a wonderful summer!
Experience & Skills
• Interest and experience in theatre arts is a must
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Comfortable interacting with children and adults.

•Flexibility at all times, as our production takes shape
• Experience working with children or a desire to work with children is an asset
