Artistree, a nonprofit community arts center based in South Pomfret, VT, is seeking a Programming Director to join our team. This is a leadership role responsible for developing, supporting, and ensuring the effective delivery of a diverse variety of year-round multi-disciplinary adult and children's arts programs. The Programming Director supports the strategic vision established by the Executive Director and leads a collaborative approach to program planning and management that brings together all of Artistree's multidisciplinary programming to advance community engagement and student learning. Because programming is at the heart of Artistree and drives all aspects of operations, the Programming Director must serve as a collaborative leader, be responsive to the needs of all constituents across the organization, and have strong financial and management capability and experience.
The Programming Director role is a full-time position at our South Pomfret, VT campus, reporting to our Executive Director. The role is typically Monday through Friday during business hours, with some weekend and evening activities as required.
General Responsibilities:

Co-create and plan the Aristree annual programming and operational calendar

Plan and manage all daily program operations

Work to ensure fit between programs offered and community/market interests

Work with marketing staff and office manager to ensure that classes are fully subscribed
-
Ensure that Artistree facilities are fully programmed with high utilization throughout the year
-
Act as a liaison between Artistree, schools and community organizations
-
Answer phone calls and emails and manage program related correspondences with public, staff and other stakeholders in a timely and professional manner
-
Participate in the curation and production of special projects and events as needed
-
Maintain and analyze annual program data and evaluations; propose changes to programming based on available data
-
Solicit and analyze patron feedback and make relevant programmatic changes
-
Develop and manage programming budgets
Tasks and responsibilities will vary greatly throughout the year by season.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Program Planning, Coordination and Management:
-
Create a collaborative programming team environment and facilitate team meetings for creative discussion and idea sharing among other staff, students, and community members

Discuss program ideas regularly with the Executive Director and programming team
-
Ensure that Artistree offers engaging and accessible programming in a broad spectrum of genres
-
Design class, camp, afterschool, and vacation week schedules
-
Invite and evaluate instructor and staff class proposals; interview and onboard new instructors
-
Meet with instructors to refine program plans
-
Write class descriptions or edit submitted class descriptions
-
Schedule class locations and times in Artistree classrooms using Google Calendar
-
Train new instructors on use of facilities, registration, payment, safety, policies, mission of Artistree, and other considerations
-
Ensure that classrooms have adequate supplies and are ready for classes
-
Coordinate with office manager to order classroom supplies, snacks for camps, and other necessary supplies and materials
-
Problem-solve with instructors to handle student conduct concerns
-
Follow up with enrollment and cancellations and communicate with instructors
-
Work with schools and other organizations on special programs
-
Coordinate with Outreach coordinator on outreach programming

Work with Administrative Manager on enrollment, registration, payment procedures and processes
-
Assist Executive Director in the coordination of staff duties
-
Serve as lead communicator with students and parents
-
Communicate program information, activities, and changes to students, families and the public
School Vacation, Afterschool. Summer Camp Programs:
-
Develop engaging Summer, Afterschool and School Vacation Camp themes and programs that emphasize hands on learning
-
Coordinate with area organizations on special programs (e.g. VINS to plan Peeps Summer Camps, WCSU on Summer SOAK arts camp, MBRNHP Fun in the Forest, etc.)

Coordinate with Artistree staff on staffing for after school and vacation camps
-
Identify, interview, hire and supervise Instructors and Summer Camp Counselors
-
Plan and facilitate Summer Camp Counselor training
-
Formalize summer Counselor Apprentice Training (CAT) program
-
Schedule, supervise, and support all summer staff
Arts Education Instruction:
-
Substitute-teach classes and camps as needed
Marketing and Program Evaluation:
-
Provide complete class and camp information to Office Manager and Marketing Director for class marketing and registration
-
Provide input on marketing strategies for class enrollment
-
Create and distribute program evaluation forms
-
Analyze patron feedback in evaluation forms & make programming changes as needed
-
Consult with Executive Director and programming team to make improvements and adjustments to programming
-
Maintain and analyze annual program data
Internal/External Relations:
-
Within Artistree, provide effective leadership and clear, consistent communication with colleagues across all departments to articulate program content and goals, and to ensure the success of all programming
-
Within the local and regional community, develop relationships and seek partnerships that will increase participation in programs
-
Serve as a representative of Artistree as requested and required by the Executive Director, including in local and regional arts organizations and committees
Budgeting and Management:
-
Work with the Executive Director, Finance Manager, programming team, and other staff to develop and manage budgets and perform periodic cost-benefit and productivity analyses
-
Provide budget analysis for purchases and staffing
-
Supervise and/or provide oversight for all Afterschool, Holiday, Summer Camp staff, programming contractors, and programming team
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Five or more years in a programming leadership capacity; five or more years in the field of arts education or a related field
-
Bachelor's Degree plus significant relevant professional experience in a related field (arts programming, arts administration, performing arts management)
-
Strong team leader with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with a demonstrated team-based approach to staff management with excellent consultative and collaborative skills
-
Experience in managing direct reports as well as in collaborating with stakeholders across a larger organization
-
Skill and experience working with multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to parents, instructors, businesses, programming partners, schools
-
Strong financial management and demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets
-
Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex information clearly and professionally with confidence and credibility in email correspondence, phone communication and in-person situations, with colleagues and external partners

Skill and experience in public speaking
-
Ability to prioritize tasks, work collaboratively, quickly and under pressure to meet deadlines

Have strong organizational skills and a flexible attitude

Ability to work weekends and evenings if needed

A good sense of humor and problem solver

Artistree, a nonprofit community arts center based in South Pomfret, VT, is seeking a part-time Events Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling inquiries about private events such as birthday parties, celebrations of life, celebrations of love, and other private events. Additionally, the Events Coordinator will assist with door management at concerts, organize annual community events, collaborate with the development office on donor events, manage scheduling/calendar for overnight guest spaces and undertake other private event-related tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field inquiries and coordinate logistics for private events at Artistree
- Work alongside concert staff to manage the door at events
- Plan and execute community events
- Collaborate with the development office to organize donor events
– Collaborate with staff in other functional areas at Artistree
– Manage listings, calendars, and customer interactions for rental of Artistree’s overnight guest spaces including the cast house and an apartment
– Coordinate with property manager and internal partners to manage scheduling for use of Artistree’s guest spaces, including
- Undertake additional tasks related to private events as required
Schedule and Compensation: This is a part-time, hourly position with pay rate in the range of $20-$22/hour based on experience. The position will be approximately 24 hours per week, with some variability based on Artistree’s program and events schedule. Some availability on evenings and weekends may be required. There may be adjustments to the schedule during the summer, or at other times based on the needs of the role. The position will primarily be on site at our South Pomfret, VT campus; some elements of the role can be performed in a hybrid/remote context.
Qualifications:

Previous experience in event coordination or related field preferred

Strong organizational and communication skills

Passion for the arts and community engagement

2 years of experience in an event planning or similar role

Basic proficiency with standard office technology

Well-organized; strong written and verbal communications skills

Ability to take initiative, work independently as well as collaboratively, good problem-solver

Comfortable interacting with children and adults

Adaptable; able to prioritize and manage multiple activities in a changing environment

Positive attitude, people-oriented, outgoing enthusiastic about putting on successful events

Has or will work towards holding a valid CPR/AED/First Aid certification
