We are happy to have Mon come back for our very first Friday Nights in the Gallery on August 5th with an encaustic demonstration!
Mon Kaczyk is an artist and an explorer, who examines the human condition and traverses topics on communication, stillness, and evolution. She analyzes and questions how we ingest information, and how we nourish our soul or value contrasting and expanding emotions. Kaczyk translates concepts through the use of sensorial and tactile materials, and utilizes personal possessions and natural materials, including garments, teabags, thorns, or bones.
She creates objects both two and three dimensionally. Her mixed media approach stems from her diverse education. After receiving a BFA in design and photography at Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia and Rome, she explored in-depth workshops in encaustics, surface design, and metals. Kaczyk merges her studio time with design, art direction, and teaching.
Mon recently gave a talk at Artistree about the history of encaustics to our Daily Artists group. She is passionate about teaching and using the medium for both 2-D & 3-D artworks.
