Welcome to The Grange Theatre’s 2024/2025 Season
A Journey Through Courage
We are thrilled to announce the 8th Season of The Grange Theatre, a remarkable journey through the depths of human courage. This season, our productions are dedicated to exploring the multifaceted themes surrounding courage. Through powerful narratives and compelling performances, we invite you to join us as we navigate the complexities of bravery in the face of uncertainty and adversity.
From intimate individual struggles to the grandeur of collective movements, our productions will illuminate the various forms courage can take: from quiet resilience to bold defiance. As we delve into these stories, we aim not only to entertain but also to provoke thought and inspire reflection on what it means to confront challenges with grace, strength, and determination.
Highlights of the Season
Opening the Season: We kick off with William Finn’s Tony Award-winning musical. This charming and hilarious show follows young spelling bee finalists navigating the pressures of competition and personal insecurities. Their courage shines as they confront fears, embrace individuality, and find strength in vulnerability.
November Production: Our community actors present Steven Dietz’s poignant exploration of the tragic sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. This production honors the bravery of the working class against the might of Lake Superior, featuring live folk music by Eric Peltoniemi.
Spring Awakening: As winter turns to spring, we bring you A.R. Gurney’s award-winning comedy. This heartwarming play explores the courage to love and be loved. When a man brings home a stray dog, Sylvia, the dynamics of his household and marriage are turned upside down, exploring the complexities of relationships with humor and grace.
Season Finale: We close the season with Edward Albee's profound play, examining the courage required to confront the passage of time, personal regrets, and the inevitability of death. Through the lens of a woman at different stages of life, we witness the bravery it takes to face one’s own mortality and truths.
Artistree-In-Residency Program
Peppered throughout the season, we will feature several projects through our new Artistree-In-Residency (AIR) program. We are excited to welcome back Vicki Ferentinos, our resident comic, to lead a stand-up comedy workshop and performance in the spring. Additionally, we will honor the indomitable spirit of Ukrainian playwrights who have created poignant works amidst the turmoil of war in a special performance project in early March.
