Teen Shop: Woodworking

Experience the creativity of working in wood with hand and power tools.

Get started in the art of wood project design, building, and painting/finishing. Learn to use basic hand tools and limited power tools. Proper attire and safety gear must be worn in class: students should dress with closed toed shoes, loose clothing tucked in, long pants, and long hair tied back. No previous experience required, all levels are welcome.

Ben Fox, LCMHC, ArtisTree Art Educator & Coordinator, is a local expressive arts therapist with a long and diverse history of art and trades experience. A stained glass artisan in his youth, Ben sought further arts education at RISD and the Pilchuck School of Glass. Ben has a Master of Arts in Expressive Therapies and a B.A. in Studio Art from Hamilton College. He has taught and worked in various creative fields such as making outdoor clothing and bags, fine woodworking, photography, and lately outdoor sculpture.

IMPORTANT: The health and safety of our visitors and staff is our #1 priority. If, due to circumstances beyond our control, it becomes necessary for Artistree to close its doors this fall, any in-progress classes will move to an online format. Our instructors and patrons will keep in mind that a transition to virtual learning is a possibility. Artistree will issue no refunds or credits for classes that cannot continue to run in person and must move to a virtual platform.
