Oaxacan Animals: Exploring the Folk Art of Mexico (9-12)

Use brightly colored paint, stamps, ink, and more to create fantastical animals.

Oaxacan art originated in Mexico and uses lively and vibrant pigments to decorate paintings and sculptures. Imaginary animals, Alebrijes, come alive with wild colors and patterns that are not seen in real life. In this class, we will use paint, stamps, ink, paper punches, and brightly colored papers to create our own fantastical animals on a wooden surface.
