Josh is a musical director, arranger, orchestrator, pianist, and actor.

JOSH D. SMITH is a musical director, arranger, orchestrator, pianist, and actor. He has worked in the Upper Valley for the past decade as a guest artist for arts organizations including Northern Stage (The Wizard of Oz, White Christmas, Into the Woods), Pentangle Arts (Fiddler on the Roof, The Rocky Horror Show, Cats, Cabaret), and the Artistree Community Arts Center. In 2017, he developed the Artistree Music Theatre Festival, a professional SPT (Equity Small Professional Theatre) along with Executive Director Kathleen Dolan, Producer Brad Dorsogna, and the staff at Artistree.  He is currently an associate artist and resident music director at Capital Repertory Theatre (a professional LORT theatre) in Albany, NY, where he has worked on many productions, including Shakespeare in Love, Ring of Fire, She Loves Me, Mamma Mia!, Camelot, and The Secret Garden. He has performed, served as musical director, and/or accompanied numerous productions from Arizona to Maine throughout the US. Josh was formerly a long-time resident musical director at the Mac−Haydn Theatre in Chatham, NY. His musical arrangements have been heard in venues across the country, including Feinstein’s/54 Below, the Green Room 42, and the Laurie Beechman Theatre in Manhattan. Recordings of his arrangements can be found on Broadway Records. Josh is originally from Syracuse, NY, where he received his master’s of music, and he is a proud member of Actors’ Equity and the American Federation of Musicians Local 802. He lives with his two small dogs, Lucy and Coco who can be found often in the rehearsal barn at Artistree.
