January featured artist Jennifer Dembinski

"Monomoy Marsh" by Jennifer Dembinski

Jenny is an artist who never stops learning and trying new things. Growing up, she drew on her bedroom walls; since then, she has progressed to paper, canvas, art board, woodblock printing, even recycled shopping bags. She paints with watercolors and acrylics, explores many different printing techniques (hand-colored woodblocks & cyanotypes are recent favorites), creates collages from her own painted papers, and is a certified Zentangle instructor. (Join her next workshop, through the NWPL via Zoom. Information here.)

After earning her B.A. in Art History, Jenny worked for the Fogg Museum in Cambridge and the Metropolitan in NYC. She lived in several places as a newlywed and tried to take art classes in every location. Since moving to Woodstock, she has raised her three daughters while continuing learning techniques from, among others, Annette Compton. She is an active volunteer in the community, works as a professional gardener, and plays tennis regularly. Jenny has been part of the Artistree Daily Artists for six years.

Jenny's Daily Artist practice this past year consisted of four areas of concentration.

-Practicing the skills she has
-Learning Something New
-Showing her work & looking at art
-Sharing what she knows

With these intentions, she created a wonderful assortment of completed pieces to exhibit in the Daily Artists of 2021 show in the gallery. She always has fun in her various artistic pursuits, and her joy in the creative process shines through in every sketch and project she makes.

You can see more of Jenny's work, as well as the other work of the Daily Artists of 2021, here on our website.
