Intro to Kung Fu for Teen Girls
Teen girls are invited to join Sonia on an epic quest in Kung Fu. Students will train in the Wing Chun style, a Chinese martial art that dates back 300 years. Wing Chun is an internal style that specializes in close range combat, utilizing both striking and grappling, and it was designed to be simple, direct, and efficient. Wing Chun practices and develops extraordinary sensitivity, balance, endurance, and coordination. In this class we will be training our minds, bodies, and spirits to build a higher degree of physical fitness as well as mental focus. Practicing movements with a still mind helps us unwind tensions and to be in a natural state of stability and strength. While learning this system you will also be learning how to navigate life’s bumps with confidence and understand the power of what a sisterhood can provide.
Please wear comfortable, loose clothing and bring indoor shoes.
Sonia Salguero is a lineage holder of Wing Chun Kung Fu. She is trained in Wing Chun, Xien Gong, Chi Gong, Nei Gong, Tai Chi, and Chin Na. Sonia studied Body Awareness and Nutrition at Community College of Vermont and graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute. Over the last nine years she has worked with Glenn Gurman at his White Star Kung Fu School in Norwich where she continues to study Tai Chi Yang and Chen style. In her martial arts teaching, Sonia strives to create programs that integrate mind, body, and spirit and develop skill sets that help her students navigate the paths of life.
