Flower Arrangement as Art
Flower Festival Workshop
Join Azusa to learn techniques for composing nature-inspired, simple-yet-elegant flower arrangements. Asuza will demonstrate and discuss ways to arrange market flowers, wildflowers, leaves, and branches with Zen-like motions. While not specifically an ikebana class, Azusa will show you some techniques from the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging. You are welcome to bring your own vase or use one of ours for the duration of class, and participants will bring home their flower arrangements.
Azusa Mihara, Artistree Gallery Coordinator, grew up in Japan where she was taught the importance of fresh flowers by her parents. A small arrangement on the dinner table, fresh herbs in the bathroom, and simple seasonal flowers in the house entrance bring her an appreciation of life. Azusa enjoys sharing what's available in each season and creates the beautiful floral arrangements that grace the Artistree Gallery. In addition to her work in the gallery Azusa teaches authentic Japanese cooking workshops at Artistree.
