Drawing the Figure
Join us to explore a variety of strategies for drawing the clothed human figure. Whether you are already adept at figure drawing or just beginning, this class will offer opportunities for you to develop your skills. Each session will focus on one particular strategy for seeing and drawing. We'll cover basic proportions, seeing the figure in terms of line and angle, understanding the body in terms of mass, and more. Reference photos and a live model will serve as the basis for our exercises in graphite (pencil). Optional exercises, demos, and varied examples of master drawings will be offered to students, and since the class emphasis is on individual attention, advanced students are free to forego group exercises altogether and work on long-term projects of their own choosing, in the drawing medium of their choice.
A supply list will be provided upon registration.
