Construction in Clay
If wheel throwing has you a little frustrated, or maybe just a little bored, try handbuilding different kinds of pots with slabs. We’ll learn methods of forming flat slabs into 3-dimensional forms by using hump and slump molds and templates. We’ll also construct square forms by joining stiff slabs. With each project, we’ll explore the use of textures, learn methods for making and attaching feet and handles, and learn tips for finishing and glazing your pots. Previous ceramic experience helpful, but not necessary. One visit to clay Open Studio is included with the class fee.
