Introducing the Bridgewater Area Community Foundation

Here's a message and call to action from our friends at the Bridgewater Area Community Foundation:

Looking for Licensed Childcare? Would you use childcare services for children birth to pre-k, and/or after-school enrichment programs for school age children if they were available to you in the area? The Bridgewater Community Center is excited to offer a licensed pre-school child care center in the former Bridgewater Village School Building beginning in January 2020. To serve the population of Bridgewater and beyond we are asking people to please complete the survey so we can gauge the need within the community and the surrounding area. This is open to surrounding towns and communities and not just limited to Bridgewater. We need your input!

Please complete the Bridgewater and Surrounding Areas Childcare Survey to help them plan.

Now, of course, you might be wondering... who is the Bridgewater Area Community Foundation? They are a group of concerned citizens who did not want to see the Bridgewater Village School demolished. In the spring 2017, this group organized, created the Bridgewater Area Community Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and petitioned the town of Bridgewater to save their school. And in the autumn of 2017, they got word from the Select Board that the school is saved from demolition! Now, amazing plans are in place that will include the previously mentioned preschool and after-school activities in 2020, but also to have the space available for classes, meetings, and more. In fact, the Community Center will be open as soon as possible in 2019 following finalizing the lease and updating the facilities.

The Bridgewater Area Community Foundation Mission Statement:

To provide a vibrant center where the people of Bridgewater and the surrounding towns can gather as part of a caring, diverse community of people from all ages and walks of life. The BACF fosters education, artistry, commerce, health and wellness, personal growth and connection. We strive to meet the basic needs of all citizens in a resilient space that will continue to serve, and function, when it is needed the most.
