Join Laura as she shares some of her favorite tips for making a berry bowl with a resting plate. During the first class we will focus on how to center and throw larger pieces of clay using our hands and tools. Use techniques of measurement to make pots that shrink to the right size. Laura will also teach you how to take larger pots off of the wheel without warping them. In the second class we will trim our pieces and learn how to cleanly add holes to the berry bowl. This class is for those with some throwing experience. One visit to clay Open Studio is included in the fee in order to finish glazing two weeks after this class.
Laura White has been working with clay for over ten years and is still amazed by how much there is to learn and explore! While in college she practiced all types of hand building, throwing, sculpture and firings. She has taught functional pottery and slab work to adults. Laura has her own line of work and sells it at farmer’s markets and craft fairs. For more about Laura, please visit her website.
