AP Art and Seniors Show 2021

Amber Geneva

Artistree Community Gallery will host a special exhibit of artwork by this year’s seniors from both Woodstock Union High School and The Sharon Academy. Students created a portfolio of work and an artist’s statement for their final grade and AP credit. Some seniors outside of AP Art class also submitted work that will be installed in the Gallery. The exhibit runs from May 28 - June 13, 2021. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. There will be an outdoor opening reception for students, friends, families, and the community on Friday, May 28th from 4:00-6:00 pm at Artistree. All are welcome!

Artistree is pleased to work with the students to provide them with the experience of entering and showing artwork in a professional gallery. Students submitted information and images through Artistree’s online entry portal. They also framed and prepared their work for hanging and installation. Thanks to the funds raised through their Go Fund Me page, they have been able to have some work professionally framed. The exhibitors greatly appreciate all the frames that were donated as well as the generous contributions to the Framing Fund!

In addition, two of the WUHS AP artists were recently recognized for their outstanding work in the  Congressional Art Show, a nationwide high school visual art competition initiated in Vermont in 1981 by Representative Jim Jeffords to celebrate young people’s artistic talent across the country. Madelyn Trimpi and Sarah Sprague both received Honorable Mentions for their pieces “The End” and “Self Portrait”, respectively. Both of these works will be on display during the exhibit.

Congratulations to Ms. Trimpi, Ms. Sprague, and all of this year’s graduating artists! Please come view their artwork in the Gallery and help celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2021!
