Finnie attended the University of Vermont’s Art Education Program and was recognized as outstanding art education student, the year of graduation.
Post-graduation, Finnie moved to Nantucket where she developed and taught art programs for the Boys and Girls club, a Montessori preschool, and the Kinder program at the Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts (NISDA). After having taught in alternative sites for about 5 years, Finnie was hired by the public school on the island where she taught at the elementary level for an additional 3 years. She then moved to a private school where she taught for one year before moving back to her home state of Vermont.
Finnie currently teaches art in the Woodstock district at Bridgewater schools and is pursuing a graduate degree in psychology and school counseling. She hopes to combine her art education background with psychology to focus on art therapy in the near future. She currently lives in Pomfret, VT with her husband and two young children.
